Dirty reception area

Trays of used instruments are brought into the dirty reception area, each identified by its own unique barcode. The person who has scanned the tray in, the contents of the tray and which department it is from are all identified.

Wash in area

Once each tray has been checked its contents are loaded into the department’s washers. Each time the washer is used it is given a cycle number which is used to identify what was washed in any given load.

Wash out area

The washed trays and instruments are taken from the washer area and moved to the inspection area.

Inspection area

Each tray and instrument is inspected and checked to make sure it is clean and in full working order.

Packing area

Receipt of trays and instruments is recorded. Each is checked for a second time. Trays are packed up and a unique inspection label is attached.

Sterilising area

Packed trays of instruments are loaded into sterilisers where they are processed at preset temperatures.
